PPSA sponsors Young Pipeliner events in 2025 to 2026
The pipeline industry is experiencing a skills
shortage. Educating young pipeliners about the
Pipeline industry and encouraging them to become a
part of it is crucial for our energy security in the
future.
This year the Pigging Products and Service
Association (PPSA) has been active in supporting
and developing young pipeliners around the world at
a number of events. By supporting young pipeliners
we are helping to develop the leaders of the future.
In April 2025 PPSA had the honour of sponsoring the
Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology
(OSUIT) Pipeline Integrity graduation luncheon.
Congratulations to all the graduates and good luck in
their future careers.
In September 2025 PPSA joined forces with the
CTDUT Pipeline Technology Research Center and
PipelineBrazil to host an Introduction to Pigging
event at the test loop in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Five
PPSA members gave presentations, sharing their
knowledge of pigging with young pipeliners,
university students and people new to the industry. To
complement the technical presentations, the students
saw a Pig launch/receive through the CTDUT
testloop. We hope this has encouraged some young
people to join the Pigging industry.
In November 2025 at the PPSA Seminar in Aberdeen
PPSA sponsored a Presentations Skills course (PEP
Talks) for young pipeliners to help them develop
communication skills. Five young pipeliners took part
in the course that was part online training with a
skilled coach, followed by them giving a presentation
on the day before the Seminar.
PPSA has also had the honour of sponsoring the YPP
USA Symposium that is taking place on 6-7 May,
2026 in Houston, USA and the YPPE mini conference
that is taking place in Nivelle, Belgium on 3-4 June
2026. These events provide leadership and
networking opportunities for young pipeliners,
developing the industry’s future talent. The
organisers are all volunteers and do a fantastic job
putting these events on with limited resources. We
are pleased to support them and wish them every
success with the events.
